Starting to look like a film

We are now in our 7th week of editing with our editor Linda Peckham. We have whittled more than 100 hours of footage down to a two-hour version of the film, and over the next several weeks we will be working hard to create a cohesive structure and compelling narrative. We expect to have a 80-minute rough cut to screen by late September, and to submit to the Sundance Documentary Fund for consideration. We also have begun researching composers and hope to hire someone to compose original music for the film in September.

As you have probably noticed, the news is filled with stories about the problems in our criminal justice system and the bipartisan push for reform. This is already emerging as a key platform issue for the 2016 presidential election. We feel an urgency to finish the film and get it out into the world where it can add to the conversation and make a real difference. Once again, we are humbled by your support of the film and the story we want to tell. We will keep you updated in the coming weeks on our progress.
